Public Utility Commission Releases Reliability Reform Study on Texas Electric Market Design

Asks for Public Comment on Study and Recommendations

November 11, 2022 – The Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) today released an independent study commissioned to analyze and recommend design updates to the Texas wholesale electricity market that will strengthen current and long-term reliability reforms to the state’s electric grid. The study was done in alignment with the economic and operational reliability principles outlined in the PUCT’s Blueprint for Wholesale Market Design, which was unanimously adopted by Commissioners in December 2021.

Where Will You Spend Veterans Day 2022?

November 9, 2022 - Veterans Day, November 11, is a time for all Americans to pay their respects to those who have served our country. One day to stand united in respect for ALL veterans, past and present. We celebrate and honor America’s Veterans for their patriotism, love of country, willingness to serve, and sacrifice for the common good.

Traditionally, Shelby County Memorial Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8904 does not hold a program on this day. Instead, we join with the local schools that are hosting an event to honor this day.

On this day in 1954, the Marine Memorial opened in Washington, just outside of Arlington National Cemetary.  Have you seen it?  If not, then you’ve certainly seen the photograph that inspired it, the photograph of the raising of the Iwo Jima flag.

Forest Service Waives Day-use Fees for Veterans Day

November 9, 2022 – Many recreation areas and other venues in the National Forests and Grasslands in Texas will be free to the public on Friday, November 11, in honor of Veterans Day.

“We honor our veterans each Veterans Day and every other day of the year,” said Forest Supervisor Kimpton Cooper. “We hope our veterans and other visitors find our national forests and grasslands as a place where they can relax and enjoy the outdoors.”

Camping fees remain in effect, but day-use fees are waived at these recreation areas and trails:
