May 27, 2022 - This week we mourn the loss of 21 Texans in a horrific shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas. Words can not adequately express our grief and we offer prayers of comfort to the families affected, the community, and our state.

May 27, 2022 = Good Morning! It’s Friday, May 27.

This coming Monday, of course, is Memorial Day. A day set aside each year to remember those men and women in uniform who gave their lives to protect our freedom. Here in Shelby County, Texas there will be a Memorial Day event at 11AM at our Civic Center. I’ll be sharing some patriotic music for the ceremony and invite all our local readers to join us!

Texas A&M Forest Service urges Texans to Help Prevent Wildfires Memorial Day Weekend

May 26, 2022 - This Memorial Day, Texas A&M Forest Service encourages Texans to protect our great state by being mindful of activities that may start a wildfire. The start of summer is marked by vacations, outdoor activities like camping and grilling and celebrating holidays with family and friends – all of which could lead to sparking a wildfire.

TPWD Awards $4.8 Million in Recreational Trail Grants to Texas Communities

May 26, 2022 - During Thursday’s meeting, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission approved more than $4.8 million dollars in grants funding 17 motorized and non-motorized recreational trail-related projects across the state.

One million dollars of the amount allocated today came directly from state Sporting Good Sales Tax funds dedicated to the Recreational Trails Program through a rider passed by the 82nd Legislature. The rider increased the total amount of funded projects this year.
