March 3, 2021 - The 16th Annual Shelby County 4-H and FFA Livestock Show was held February 27, 2021 at the Sheriff’s Posse Rodeo Arena with over 100 exhibitors. Weigh-in of market animals started at 7:30 a.m. and the show began at 10:00 a.m. with rabbits judged by Mr. Frank Farrow. Carl Muntean, judged the lambs, goats, swine, and cattle. Both judges were very informative and interactive with the youth and animals. The Buyers Appreciation dinner and Livestock Auction was held later the same day at the John Dean Windham Civic Center.
February 23, 2021 - Joaquin ISD will remain closed on Wednesday, February 24th. Classes will resume on Thursday, February 25th at normal starting time. Please continue to check our JISD Facebook page as well as local media outlets for any additional updates.
February 22, 2021 - Joaquin ISD will remain closed on Tuesday, February 23rd.
February 23, 2021 - On February 17, 2021, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) required our public water system City of Center, PWS ID TX2100001 to issue a Boil Water Notice (BWN) to inform our customers that due to the presence of contaminants or an interruption in service, water from our system must be boiled prior to consumption.
February 22, 2021 - Timpson ISD will be open on Tuesday February 23, 2021 at the normal time.
February 21, 2021 - Due to infrastructure issues, Timpson ISD will be closed for Monday, February 22, 2021. Please, monitor for an announcement about Tuesday classes.
February 22, 2021 - All classes will resume tomorrow, Tuesday, February 23, for Shelbyville ISD.
February 21, 2021 - Shelbyville ISD will not hold classes Monday, February 22nd, to allow school officials to determine damages caused by the latest winter freeze.
February 21, 2021 - Center ISD is cancelling classes for Monday and Tuesday of this week. Due to the extensive power and water outages, along with the lack of internet in the majority of our campuses. Center ISD also has minor damage from from the winter storm. At this time Center ISD will resume in person classes on Wednesday, February 24, 2021. Please continue to check back for further updates.
February 20, 2021 - Center ISD officials will meet tomorrow morning to make a decision regarding school for the week of February 22-26. They will consider power outages and water damage before issuing a decision at noon on Sunday, February 21. Please look to local media and the Center ISD Facebook page for a decision.
February 18, 2021 - Unfortunately, our water system succumbed to the amount of water lost to leaks and consistent running faucets. Despite repairs of all known system leaks by midday Wednesday, reported customer leaks have been at unprecedented levels since Tuesday and still continue. Most people in the city began experiencing lower pressure and limited water yesterday afternoon requiring a system-wide boil water notice.
February 18, 2021 - DETEC is currently reporting 22,365 meters without power which accounts for 50% of the DETEC system. All outages are now due to ice accumulation causing downed trees and lines. Rolling blackouts and load issues are no longer the primary issues as much damage to the system has occurred.
