What's New at the Library

May 30, 2019 - The Fannie Brown Booth Memorial Library 2019 Summer Reading Program starts Saturday, June 1 and is sponsored by the Center Noon Lions Club.

Reading logs may be picked up at the library beginning Saturday, June 1st, and must be completed and returned to the library by Thursday, July 11th

Children may select books from the library or from other sources to read. To be eligible for the program, they must keep a reading log that lists the title of the books read or a time log that lists how much time they spent reading. Non-readers who wish to participate may have parents read and keep logs for them. 

Learning Program starts Thursday, June 6th and is on each Thursday thereafter through July 11th. The program schedule is as follows:

May 21, 2019 - Starting June 5th, Preschool Story Time will be on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m.

December 12, 2018 - The Fannie Brown Booth Library's first 'Working with the Workforce' workshop did not have quite the turnout they were hoping for; however, the library staff are not discouraged!

The Workforce Solutions Deep East Texas - American Job Center Network and Fannie Brown Booth Memorial Library intend to partner again in the future to host another workshop for those in the area who need help finding job opportunities and who need help “getting the job”!

A big “Thank you!” to Jeanne Blacksher, Facilitator from the Nacogdoches branch of Workforce Solutions, for coming out to the library to assist  with the workshop!

August 31, 2018 - School has started. Summer has ended. And it is time for the Fannie Brown Booth Library to start Preschool Story Time once again. We will begin on Thursday, September 6th, at 10:30am.

Preschool Story Time is for children 2-5 years of age. We read a story, sing songs, make a simple craft - just have fun for 30 - 45 minutes. 

The schedule of other events:

  • Tuesday, September 4th, 4-6pm - Friends of the Library will sort books for the upcoming Book Sale.
  • Wednesday, September 5th, 2pm - Color Me Calm (adult coloring)
  • Thursday, September 6th, 10:30am - Preschool Story Time
  • Friday, September 7th, 4-6pm - Create-a-Costume

August 29, 2018 - This year, Fannie Brown Booth Library is going to be hosting a Create-A-Costume group for Halloween! We will supply ideas, fabric, accessories, and other supplies to help your child make a great costume!

We are still looking for donations for these items, so feel free to bring anything you have by the library.

Our Create-A-Costume group will meet throughout September and the first two weeks of October. The meetings will be after Story Time on Thursdays for those who are too young for school or are homeschooled, and on Fridays from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. for those who need to come after school! Adults must be present to approve their child’s choices and to assist in the making of the costumes.

This is a family friendly group. We look forward to seeing you all there!

August 14, 2018 - The Crafternoon group of the Fannie Brown Booth Library will meet Wednesday, August 15th, at 2:00 p.m.

If you are working on a craft project or just want to see what others are working on, come join us at the library.

July 24, 2018 - Wednesday, July 25th at 10:30 a.m., will be the last Summer Preschool Story Time at the Fannie Brown Booth Library. There will be no Story Time during the month of August. We will start back with our regular Story Time on Thursday, September 6th, at 10:30am.

Color Me Calm will meet Wednesday, July 25th, at 2:00 p.m. The Library provides all materials. Just come and enjoy!

June 19, 2018 - We are now into our third week of the 2018 Summer Reading/Learning Program at the Fannie Brown Booth Library. The following events are scheduled for this week, including the events for adults:

  • Wednesday, June 20, 10:30am - Summer Preschool Story Time
  • Wednesday, June 20, 2-3pm - Color Me Calm (adult coloring)
  • Thursday, June 21, 10:30am - Libraries Rock! (making musical instruments for ages 4-8 years)
  • Thursday, June 21, 2:00pm - Police K-9 program (Tweens - ages 9-13 years)
  • Friday, June 22, 2-3pm - Colorpalooza (coloring for all ages)

June 13, 2018 - The first week of the Summer Reading/Learning Program at the June 11, 2018 - Fannie Brown Booth Library was a great success with Puppetwise and “Drumming at the Library.”  And we have two more great programs scheduled for this week.

Thursday, June 14th, at 10:30 a.m., the Center Police Department will present the program featuring their K-9 Officers for ages 4-8 year of age. Then at 2:00 p.m., the Tweens program will be “Don’t Break That!”  Did you ever get a new toy when you were growing up and the first thing your parents said was, “Don’t you break that!”? Well, This week, the Tweens will get the chance to “ break that.” They will be taking things apart and maybe even putting them back together again. This is for ages 9-13 years of age.

Reading logs are available to be picked up at the library.

January 15, 2018 - The Fannie Brown Booth Library will be closed Tuesday, January 16th, due to the expected freezing precipitation. If we do get the forecasted freezing rain and/or snow, the library sidewalks could be slippery and dangerous for our patrons. We will open again on Wednesday, January 17th, at 10:00am.
