What's New at the Library

November 3, 2017 - The Fannie Brown Booth Library will have the following activities the week of November 7th - 11th.

  • Tuesday, November 7th, 4:00 to 5:30 pm - LEGO Club (all ages)
  • Thursday, November 9th, 10:30 am - Preschool Story Time
  • Thursday, November 9th, 2:00 to 3:00 pm - Color Me Calm (adult coloring)
  • Friday, November 10th, 2:00 to 4:00 pm - Crafternoon (adult) If you love doing crafts, bring whatever you are working on and join us.

August 25, 2017 - The Fannie Brown Booth Library will have our first Library LEGO Club meeting on Wednesday, September 6th, at 4:00 – 5:30 p.m. This will be for all ages. LEGO bricks will be provided by the library. No need to bring anything but your ideas! Parents must be in attendance for children ages 6 years and under. 

Preschool Story Time will start up again at the Library on Thursday, September 7th at 10:30 a.m. If you have a child between the ages of 2 years and 5 years, we would like for you and your child to join us for a story, a simple craft, singing and lots of fun.

Our adult coloring group, COLOR ME CALM, will meet Thursday, September 7th, at 2:00 p.m. Take a break from the stress of your day and join us for a time of relaxation and just plain fun.  The Library provides everything – coloring pages, gel pens, colored pencils and markers.

July 5, 2017 - The Fannie Brown Booth Library will host the Creature Teacher for both programs on Thursday, July 6th. The younger group (ages 4-8) will start at 10:30 a.m. and the TWEENS (ages 9-13) will start at 2:00pm. Come and see what creatures the Teacher will surprise us with this Thursday.

The Library Summer Reading Program is sponsored by the Center Noon Lions Club.

June 26, 2017 - The Fannie Brown Booth Library's next Summer Reading event for the younger group (ages 4-8) will be a program by local beekeepers, Mike and Linda Bordelon. They will be bringing an observation hive which should be very interesting. This program will be Thursday, June 29th, at 10:30 a.m.

The Tweens (ages 9-13) will have their last LEGO group at 2:00 p.m., June 29th, with the theme being STAR WARS. 

Don't forget those reading logs! If your child has not gotten one from the library, we still have some available. Our Summer Reading Program is sponsored by the Center Noon Lions Club.

June 15, 2017 - Week two of the Center Library Summer Reading program got off to a 'rockin' start with Sara Ward, "The Story Lady" on Thursday, June 15th. The Story Lady had the little readers jamming with their air guitars while taking them on an adventure with music inspired story time. The Tweens will meet at 2pm to enjoy another week of Lego creation. The theme for week two of the Tween program is transportation.

June 14, 2017 - The Fannie Brown Booth Library will have a writing class on Tuesday, June 14th, at 2:30 p.m. Local author, Terri Lacher, will be giving tips and ideas on how to make your thoughts and ideas come to life.

Our next summer reading event will be Thursday morning, June 15th at 10:30.  Sara Ward - the Story Lady, will be our performer for the younger children. Then at 2:00 p.m., the Tweens will have another LEGO group.  Reading logs are still available.  Our summer program is sponsored by the Center Noon Lions Club.

June 6, 2017 - The Fannie Brown Booth Library will re-open on Tuesday, June 6th, at 1:00 p.m. We now have power to the library. The phones and the internet were restored this morning.

We are very thankful to the City workers, Gary Helton, SWEPCO, and AT&T for their work getting us back up and running again.

Also, we appreciate the patience of all our patrons during this time when we had to be closed.

Our first programs for the 2017 Summer Reading Programs will be Thursday, June 8th. Puppet Wise will be the program for ages 4-8 years. The puppet show will start at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday. The TWEEN program for ages 9-13 years will be Thursday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. This program will be building with LEGOs.

May 9, 2017 - This Week at the Fannie Brown Booth Library will feature: 
Thursday, May 11th, 10:30 a.m. - Preschool Story Time
Thursday, May 11th, 2:00 p.m. - Color Me Calm

Also, schedules for the Summer Reading Program are available at the Library.

April 18, 2017 - Friends of the Library are asking for donations of gently used paperback and hardback books in good condition. No encyclopedias, please. Books may be brought to the Fannie Brown Booth Memorial Library during regular library hours.

The books will be sold in the Spring Book Sale to be held Tuesday, April 25-Saturday, April 29. All proceeds will go to the library for the purchase of new books.

Any volunteers who can help with sorting of books may call Melba at 936-591-7036 or Amy at 936-657-8529. A yearly total of five volunteer hours of work on FOL projects enables you to be registered as a FOL member.

April 4, 2017 - The Fannie Brown Booth Memorial Library is hosting Preschool Story Time on Thursday, April 6th starting at 10:30a.m.

Also on Thursday, April 6th at 2:00p.m. an adult coloring class - Color Me Calm is scheduled. The Library supplies all materials.

And don't forget the annual Spring Book Sale. Donations for the Spring Book Sale are appreciated anytime during regular library hours.
