May 3, 2023 - Good Morning! It's Wednesday, May 3.
We continue with a brief series leading to tomorrow's National Day of Prayer. Our focus today is on the most famous prayer in history - The Lord's Prayer. It's found in two places - a short version in the gospel of Luke, and the longer, more familiar version in Matthew.

I love the book of Proverbs! Theologians agree that King Solomon - a man known for his wisdom - wrote most of these wise little truths. There are a few long passages in Proverbs - like the famous description of a godly woman in chapter 31 - but most of the book features single verse, bite size thoughts to live by. Here are a few of my favorites for you to chew on today . . .
9:10. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

On this day in 1820, the legendary composer Ludwig Beethoven composed a piece that every young piano student ends up playing, sooner or later. It’s called “Fur Elise” - you know it - and it’s probably the most played piano piece in history. It wasn’t published until 40 years after the maestro was laid in his grave, and we can assume that every time a young pianist plays it (badly), that Beethoven spins in that grave!
What movie has been seen by the most people in history? (Titanic)

Wednesday is my early morning. One of my church's three weekly men's prayer groups meets every Wednesday at 6am at an area restaurant. We usually have about 20 guys there. A nice mix - young and old, working and retired, church members and guests. It's always a blessing for me to sit at that long table and see all the conversations going on. Small talk, mostly, but some big talk, too. For over a year now, God has been working through this gathering, working in the lives of these men.

Last Sunday at First Baptist Center, we added a new song to our worship repertoire - “Holy Forever”. Written in 2022 by Chris Tomlin and Phil Wickham, it’s a simple, powerful song of praise. I encourage you to check it out. Here are some of the lyrics -
A thousand generations falling down in worship
To sing the song of ages to the Lamb
And all who've gone before us
And all who will believe
Will sing the song of ages to the Lamb

This morning we take a look at an amazing "coincidence" and we focus on an amazing passage of scripture.
The King James Bible was published in 1611. William Shakespeare, at that time, was regarded as the world's greatest playwright. Four centuries later, he still is. And, 400 years later, the King James translation is still the "Bible of choice" for many Christians. So, here's that amazing coincidence.
