Do you enjoy antique stores? Second to bookstores, they're my favorite place to spend time on a leisurely Saturday afternoon. Over the last few years, however, I've had a few disconcerting moments in antique stores. While walking through the cluttered aisles, I'll notice something, usually a toy or a game, from my own childhood - maybe an Etch-A-Sketch or a View Master or a Magic Eight Ball. And it is in moments like these, that I am struck by the sobering truth that I, too, am an antique!

Part of my job at First Baptist Center is to choose songs for worship services. When I began my ministry career, four decades ago, there was only one source for all those choices - the hymn book. If it wasn't in the Baptist Hymnal, we weren't going to be singing it. In the 21st century, our worship song sources are multitude. Planning worship can be complicated, and challenging.

On this day in 1967, the entire country of Sweden made a change. 

At 5am that morning, Swedish drivers moved from the left side of the road to the right. Can you imagine? Government leaders had been discussing this change for over a decade, and carefully planning it for several years. All of Europe drove on the right side, and Sweden had been driving cars with left-side steering for as long as anyone could remember. But still, 83% of Swedes were against it.

As the story goes, the writer Ernest Hemingway was having dinner with some friends, when he offered a challenge. Who could write the best story - using only six words? Everyone put in $10, and the winner would get the pot. Hemingway won his own contest when he wrote... For Sale: baby shoes, never worn.

You could think about that story for a long time.
