March 4, 2023 - The 2023 Shelby County Livestock sale is underway at the John D. Windham Civic Center and results will be updated during the auction. The results are unofficial. Official results will be published once they are available.
March 3, 2023 - Most Texans are proud of their state. Texas has a lot to offer its residents, and bragging rights are included. I realize that we Texans have a reputation for being outwardly proud. In fact I read where a father instructed his son, “Son, don’t ask a man where’s he’s from. If he’s from Texas, he’ll tell you. If not, there ain’t no need to embarrass him.”

Yesterday I drove a group of senior adults on a trip to the Louisiana State Exhibit Museum in Shreveport - a beautiful and unique building from the 1930’s. Just a couple of miles away is another old building called the Municipal Auditorium. Doesn’t ring a bell? Well, I’ll bet you’ve heard of the famous radio show that broadcast from there - the Louisiana Hayride.
March 2, 2023 – The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s (TPWD) 2023–24 proposed migratory game bird regulations mirror last year’s season lengths, timing and daily bag limits. No changes were required due to federal regulatory modifications for season length or daily bag limits. In addition, staff are not proposing any substantive changes to any migratory game bird hunting season.
March 2, 2023 - On March 2, we celebrate Texas Independence Day! On that day in 1836, a delegate from each of the 59 existing settlements in Texas signed the Texas Declaration of Independence. This document officially declared Texas’ independence from Mexico and created the Republic of Texas. The delegation met at Washington-on-the-Brazos and also organized the interim government, naming Sam Houston commander-in-chief of the republic’s military forces.

This Sunday, our Youth Praise Team will be leading us in worship at First Baptist Center. A worship song written in 2018 will be part of that service. It's called "Build My Life". The composer, Pat Barrett, a worship leader in Atlanta, Georgia, was inspired by the story that Jesus told in the famous Sermon on the Mount. You know the story...
