DETEC Reports Approximately 8,000 Outages Remain

April 13, 2022 - Crews have worked throughout the night and continue to work to restore power. We have a large amount of broken poles and wire on the ground. Additional contractor and cooperative crews have been called in to help. 

It is estimated that outages may continue into Thursday evening as we make repairs as quickly as possible. If you are dependent upon electricity for medical needs, please seek an alternate location until your power is restored. 

At this time, approximately 8,000 outages are reported.

SWEPCO Restoring Power After Severe Storms

April 13, 2022 - Nearly 46,000 SWEPCO customers are without power after severe weather swept through the Ark-La-Tex overnight.

Damage assessors have reported downed power lines and fallen trees throughout the area.

Remember to stay away and keep children and pets away from downed lines. Treat all downed power lines as if they are energized and dangerous.

As of 6am today, about 40,000 customers in Northwest Louisiana and 8,400 customers in East Texas are without power. At the peak, about 65,000 customers were without power.

Shelby County Included in Tornado Watch 116

April 12, 2022 - The National Weather Service has issued Tornado Watch 116 in effect until 2am CDT Wednesday for the following areas in Arkansas this watch includes seven counties in South Central Arkansas, Union in Southwest Arkansas, Columbia, Hempstead, Lafayette, Little River, Miller, Nevada.

In Louisiana this watch includes 15 Parishes in North Central Louisiana, Caldwell, Jackson, Lincoln, Ouachita, Union, Winn. In Northwest Louisiana, Bienville, Bossier, Caddo, Claiborne, De Soto, Natchitoches, Red River, Sabine, Webster.

East Texas Included in Severe Hazardous Weather Outlook

April 12, 2022 - This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of south central Arkansas, southwest Arkansas, north central Louisiana, northwest Louisiana, southeast Oklahoma, east Texas and northeast Texas.

Day One: Today and Tonight

Chances for showers and thunderstorms will return to the area by this afternoon into this evening. Some storms may be severe, with all modes of severe weather possible. Heavy rainfall will be possible with some storms, which could lead to localized flooding.

Flat Fork Water Supply Rescinds Boil Water Notice

April 8, 2022 - On April 6, 2022, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality required Flat Fork Water Supply Corporation (PWS# 210007) to issue a Boil Water Notice to inform customers, individuals, or employees that due to conditions which occurred recently in the public water system, the water from this public water system was required to be boiled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes.

Center Fire Department Fights House Fire on CR 1443

April 7, 2022 - Center Fire Department firefighters fought a house fire at a residence on CR 1443 Tuesday, April 5, 2022.

According to Center Fire Chief Keith Byndom, the fire department received a call at 9pm, regarding a house fire located on the 600 block of CR 1443 and when they arrived at the scene of the fire they found heavy flames emitting from one end of the house involved.
