SRTC Panola College - Power Outage - Virtual Learning

February 21, 2021 - As a result of the continued power outage at Shelby Regional Training Center, in-person classes normally held at SRTC will remain virtual Monday and Tuesday, with the exception of welding students who should check their student email or reach out to their instructor for more information.

All in-person classes, including cosmetology and vocational nursing at Shelby College Center on Loop 500 in Center will resume on Monday, February 22, 2021. 

City of Huxley Water Supply Outage Update

February 21, 2021 - The Water plant is running 24 hours a day to pump as much water to keep tanks filled as much as possible. Demand is still greater than what the plant can produce. Huxley workers have continued working thru day and night moving water throughout the distribution system as tank levels allow. Areas still without water include - Rodgers Harbor Subdivision, Shelby Beach, Rolling Hills, CR 2450, FM 2694 Bolesfield, English Bay, Ragtown FM 3184, Brinsons Marina, FM 2747, Possum Trot, New Harmony, and Oakdale Communities.

Angelina, Neches River Authority Extends Environmental Laboratory Hours for Public Water Systems to Conduct Emergency Water Testing

February 19, 2021 - The Angelina and Neches River Authority (ANRA) has been closely monitoring the unprecedented winter weather event in Texas and has been taking action as needed.

To help public water utilities with the restoration of normal water service and to expedite the rescission of boil water notices from the TCEQ, the Angelina and Neches River Authority’s Environmental Laboratory is extending normal hours of operation to accommodate water system professionals with emergency laboratory testing.

SWEPCO Update: Power Restoration Continues in Louisiana, Texas

February 19, 2021, 3:45pm - Southwestern Electric Power Co. (SWEPCO) workers and contractors continue to restore power to approximately 19,000 customers without service following a winter storm that brought freezing rain, ice, sleet and snow to the Ark-La-Tex.

Ice and snow brought down multiple trees and wires, particularly in the hardest-hit areas of Central Louisiana. Customers are reminded to stay away from downed lines and keep children and pets away as well. Report downed lines immediately to SWEPCO at 1-888-218-3919.

Scam Alert: Feds Warn Residents About Fraudsters Seeking to Profit from Disaster

February 19, 2021 – The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Texas reminds the public that fraudsters soon follow disaster.

As Texas suffers from historic freezing and resulting property damage from ice and burst pipes, it is likely that individuals will seek to fraudulently profit from the attendant stress.
