Here’s one of my favorite quotes about New York City. ”If you stand on the corner in Times Square long enough, every person in the world will walk by”. It’s a thought both clever and illuminating. And it comes to mind as we sit in our church ice cream booth at Poultry Fest, our town’s fall festival. There's always a huge crowd that attends this event and it seems like, over the weekend, that every person in Shelby County walks by.

A great Shelby County tradition begins tomorrow - Poultry Fest! But, there's a great First Baptist Center tradition that happens again tonight. On the eve of Poultry Fest each year, our church has the honor and blessing of hosting a supper for all the carnival workers. At 5:30 this evening, just off our historic town square, we'll share food and encouragement with all the "carnies".

In January of 1990, a church youth group in Burleson, Texas, was having a weekend retreat. On Saturday night they decided to go to their high school to pray. Not being able to get inside, they just gathered around the flag pole.
From that tiny seed has grown the mighty oak called See You At the Pole. And tomorrow morning, millions of students in Texas, around America, and in over 60 foreign countries, will meet on their campuses to pray. That's a God thing!

On this day, in 1926, Henry Ford made a revolutionary decision. He limited all of his factory workers to five eight-hour days, a 40-hour work week.
