David's Daily Devotion for November 30

November 30, 2023 - Good Morning! It's Thursday, November 30.

Today, on the threshold of December, we focus on the nativity characters who journeyed the farthest to see the Christ Child. This morning we consider the kings, the wise men, the magi.

The magi are only mentioned in the 2nd chapter of Matthew. The verse, perhaps, that sums up who they were and what they did is Matthew 2:11 -

David's Daily Devotion for November 29

November 29, 2023 - Good Morning! It's Wednesday, November 29.

Happy Birthday to Clive Staples Lewis, born November 29, 1898. One of my favorite writers, C.S. Lewis is considered by many to be the greatest Christian apologist of the 20th century. That’s “apologist” from the Greek “apologia,” a legal term for offering a defense. Lewis was an heroic defender of the faith and his over 30 books sold millions of copies and continue to influence those who explore the Christian experience.

David's Daily Devotion for November 28

November 28, 2023 - Good Morning! It's Tuesday, November 28.

On this day, in 1974, John Lennon performed for a sold-out crowd at New York City's Madison Square Garden. That's not very surprising - Lennon was a natural born performer. What is surprising, astounding really, is the fact that this would be his last public performance. In 1980, a psychotic fan ended his life. But for the last six years of his life, he didn't do the thing that he was born to do, he didn't share his music with the world.

David's Daily Devotion for November 27

November 27, 2023 - Good Morning! It's Monday, November 27.

"CHRISTMAS CANCELLED IN BETHLEHEM!" I saw this news headline a few days ago, the sad news that the town where Christmas began wouldn't be open for holiday pilgrims this year. This is, of course, because of the unrest in the Holy Land. Bethlehem is located in the West Bank, just outside of Jerusalem, an area where millions of Palestinians live. The danger for tourists is just too great. A sad note for this holiday season.

David's Daily Devotion for November 21

November 21, 2023 - Good Morning! It's Tuesday, November 21.

Tomorrow marks the 60th anniversary of an event that shook the world. There are certain moments in history that linger in our memories. Moments when we remember where we were when we heard the news. For my parent's generation, it was the attack on Pearl Harbor. For my daughter's generation, it was the attack on the Twin Towers. But for my generation, it was November 22, 1963, when President John F. Kennedy was assassinated.

David's Daily Devotion for November 20

November 20, 2023 - Good Morning! It's Monday, November 20.

Today we'll take a look at a Bible character... who was thankful.

Leprosy is considered by historians to be the first known and recorded disease. Scientific proof dates back to 2000 BC and Hippocrates wrote about leprosy five centuries before Bethlehem. It was incurable and those who contracted it were quarantined, not for 10 days, but for the rest of their agonizing lives.
